My Treatments

Sports Therapy

My work involves delivering sports massage and rehabilitating injuries arising either from sport or general daily life. Sports therapy is used to address conditions such as back, neck and shoulder pain, achillies tendonitis, knee pain, muscle strains and ligament sprains, among others. It helps to support the body in day to day life by alleviating muscle stiffness, aches and pains and also to help improve training if you are running a marathon.

All treatments involve an initial consultation, a thorough physical examination and notes of medical history and diagnosis. A treatment plan is devised to reduce pain, aid healing and promote recovery followed by home exercise advice to support treatment offered in the clinical environment. Depending on the type of injury/pain presented, treatment might include soft tissue manipulation, massage and/or therapeutic ultrasound. Sports massage/therapy is for everyone and not just those involved in sport. It can be helpful for those who sit at desks all day in relieving aches and pains related to posture and those who develop injuries due to heavy lifting/ sport and exercise.

Yoga

I offer group classes and one to one sessions for people of all abilities. A typical class will begin with focus on the breath which is then used as a guide to move the body in and out of a series of yoga postures. Each sequence is designed to improve flexibility and strength within the body whilst promoting relaxation. The class finishes with relaxation leaving the body and mind relaxed and refreshed.

Yoga is great for everyone and anyone wanting to improve their health and wellbeing. It develops flexibility, strength and balance within the body and brings calm to the mind. Yoga is a physical tool that is a must to manage the little aches and pains that the body accrues through daily living and is a gentle antidote to the chaos in busy lives.

Oncology Massage

Oncology massage is a treatment designed to offer those dealing with cancer to have some gentle massage. The treatment is very different to normal massage in that it is more gentle, shorter and accommodates most stages of treatment. A careful selection of oils are used to address issues such as sickness, providing support to the skin through radiotherapy and promoting the healing of scar tissue following surgery. Consultant approval for massage is generally preferred.

Holistic Therapies

These include aromatherapy, hot stone massage, reflexology, Indian head massage and Ear Candling. All holistic treatments promote a sense of wellbeing and offer an opportunity to relax and unwind.
